Stifel Bank (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to the protection of your privacy.

This Stifel Bank Mobile App Privacy Policy (this “Privacy Policy”), together with any other documents referenced, describe how we may collect, use, share, protect, and otherwise process Personal Information (defined below) of the users (“you” or “Users”) of the Stifel Bank mobile app and the Stifel Bank Central Business mobile app (“the Apps” or “our Apps”). The use of the term “including” means “including, without limitation” throughout this Privacy Policy.

 

What Personal Information Do We Collect?

In connection with your access and use of the Apps, we may collect information that identifies or can be used to identify, relates to, or could be linked to an individual (“Personal Information,” in your case, “Your Data”). It may include your name, e-mail and/or mailing address, phone number, account numbers, account login credentials, and other similar identifiers. We collect it either directly from you when you provide it to us or automatically when you use the Apps. It may be also supplied to us by a third party in connection with your use of the Apps.

User Account Information. Please note that account creation and provisioning for Stifel Bank Central Business mobile app must be completed prior to use. When you register to use the Stifel Bank mobile app, you may be asked to provide certain information that includes:

  • Your name;
  • Your e-mail address;
  • Your phone number; and
  • Other optional information designed to support your relationship with Stifel.

Cookies, Tracking, Website Use, and Data Logs. When you visit the Apps, even if you have not opened a user account, we (or a third party retained by us to support us in providing our Apps) may place on your mobile device a tracking element—such as a cookie, pixel tag, or web beacon—that will allow our system to recognize you when you next visit the Apps. These trackers help to optimize, secure, and simplify your experience with us. These trackers may collect and use information about your use of our Apps, including your IP address and information about your operating system, and time spent on any of our Apps (“Activity Data”). We use Activity Data to personalize your experience, ensure that our Apps function properly, and for security purposes, as well as to improve our Apps. We also gather statistical information about usage of our Apps to improve their design and functionality, to assist us with resolving technical support questions, to track advertising performance, and to collect aggregate data on mobile app usage. Cookies also may be connected to third-party companies or websites. The privacy practices of the companies placing such cookies are governed by their respective privacy policies.

In the event that you select a link for a website in the Apps, your session may be transferred to your mobile browser. Your browser may have settings that will block the installation of cookies and other trackers. You can also delete cookies that have already been placed on your device. Consult the “Help” function of your browser to explore your options. If your browser is set in this manner, certain linked content from the Apps may not be available to you.

Photos of Financial Documents. We might collect images of financial documents – including checks and account statements – that you provide us by scanning with the camera on your device, or uploading, or using another method.

Additional Mobile Services that may request access. We may also collect information from Contacts, Location, and Messages to support the functionality of features within the Apps.

 

How Do We Use Your Data?

We use Your Data to:

  • Provide our Apps to you;
  • Develop aggregated and anonymized user data;
  • Communicate with you about our Apps, including updated features, feedback you may provide about our Apps, or maintenance activities related to providing you with our Apps;
  • Monitor system performance and data accuracy for optimization and user experience;
  • Personalize your user experience with our Apps;
  • Provide you with customer support, and respond to and resolve your inquiries and requests via e-mail or by phone;
  • For any purpose for which you permit us to use Your Data; and
  • When the Personal Information is an image of a check you want to remotely deposit, to process it for clearing.

 

With Whom Do We Share or Disclose Your Data?

Except as set forth in this Privacy Policy and the Stifel Privacy Notice, we do not share Your Data with anyone.

  • We may provide Your Data to those affiliates and/or third-party service providers who assist us in operating the Apps;
  • If you request to speak with a financial representative or consent to receive wealth management services of any kind from one of our affiliates, then we will share Your Data with that affiliate to facilitate its conversation with or provision of services to you;
  • We may share Your Data to comply with the laws, regulations, and rules by which we are governed;
  • We may share the e-mail address and other contact information that you provide to us with third parties with whom we contract. If we do so, our agreements with those third-party contractors will prohibit them from using your e-mail address or other contact information for any other purpose or from sharing that information with other third parties;
  • We may share information with any successor to all or part of our business. For example, in the event of a merger, divestiture, change of control, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets (or in anticipation of such event), we may share Your Data as part of that transaction;
  • We may disclose Your Data in any manner that you expressly permit; and
  • When the Personal Information is an image of a check you want to remotely deposit, we may forward it to a third-party clearing intermediary.

 

Security of Personal Information

Beyond this Privacy Policy, we provide additional security measures, including the use of administrative and technical safety measures that are intended to protect Your Data. To further protect Your Data, we utilize a number of controls and safeguards, as well as verification factors that work behind the scenes to provide a seamless and secure experience.

You will have a unique set of credentials, selected by you, and which will be encrypted while transmitted to or from our servers. As a final safeguard, you will be notified when changes are made to your account security settings.

 

How Can You Review and Update Your Data?

You can view Your Data in the Apps. In order to update Your Data, you would need to access the corresponding websites for the Apps or contact your Relationship Banker or our Stifel Bank support team at (866) 303-8003. The usefulness of the Apps to you is dependent on your provision of accurate and up-to-date information about yourself.

 

How Long Do We Retain Your Data?

Unless you request otherwise, we will retain the Personal Information we collect from you indefinitely or as long as we deem necessary or permissible under applicable laws.

Stifel Bank, member FDIC, must comply with certain legal and regulatory requirements pertaining to record retention. As such, even if you close your user account, we may be required to retain all or part of Your Data to comply with applicable laws and regulations.

 

“Do Not Track” (DNT) Signals

The following statement is regarding redirection from any link within the Apps to a Stifel or third-party website. Most browsers can be set to send DNT signals to third-party websites requesting them not to track the user’s activities. At this time, we do not respond to such signals. Consequently, Stifel Bank, its third-party service providers, and other third-party websites and online services may indeed track and collect Personal Information about your online activities over time while navigating to, from, and on the Apps or its services and across those third-party websites and online services, notwithstanding any DNT signals we may receive.

 

Protecting Children’s Privacy Online

The Apps are not directed to individuals under the age of thirteen (13), and those children should not provide Personal Information through the Apps or its services. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 without parental consent.

 

Modifications to Our Privacy Policy

We may change our privacy practices from time to time as the need arises. When we do, we will revise this Privacy Policy and we will post the revised document on our website at: https://bankwithstifel.com/disclosures/app-privacy/.
